I assume its like a 150moa base. Just because the round is effective doesnt mean you can hit shit with it. FWIW, this lethal range IMO should not even be considered when choosing a weapon. JKnight 11/16/2009 9:02:30 PM kengel2: The military considers the M9 pistol lethal at 1800 meters, and the M4 Carbine lethal at 3600 meters. This is of course assuming that the weapon is aimed at a high angle. See the following article http://thegunwiki.com/Gunwiki/FactorsOfEffectiveRange Bullets lose velocity, but after a certain point gravity acts on them. Even two miles away a .308 round will have about the same energy as a .22LR fired at point blank range. So what kind of scope base are you using?

It can certainly work in close for center mass shooting in good light but it is at its best getting on target at intermediate and long distances. This is what makes a daytime illuminated 1-4X type optic more usefull that a non daytime illuminated 1-4X scope. You retain the longer range BAC capability.

BAC is far from perfect but it’s a much better option than the NSN’s iron sights.
As always, it all depends on what you’re going to be doing.

Just because the military does it, doesn’t prove a thing. Case in point, they use Beretta M9′s. It’s very fortunate that the military likes the Leupold scopes, because they are one of the very best made, but that’s MY opinion talking, not that of the military. Look, I’ve tried to educate you as best I can so you can make a decision for yourself. I want you to be able to browse a catalog of rifle scopes and determine which of those suits you the best and which of those you feel the most comfortable looking through at your chosen distances. I would rather you tell us, “I don’t like that one because…” even if we recommend it. At least you’d know what you’re talking about. But, all things considered – if you have no idea what you want, have no care about educating yourself on scopes, and only want US to tell you what to get, then I have no problem spending your money. The Leupold Mark4 is proven in battle, chosen by soldiers, and revered by marksmen everywhere. You honestly cannot go wrong with it. Mesa said they would have to modify the M4 mold design slightly sometime in the future. TIA! Carey I did quite a bit of training with the shotgun before I shot a 3 gun with it. Maybe it’s my short arms.. but I feel that its actually perfect. I felt like the original stock was a bit long. When I shoulder the gun the sights are right where I need them
As far as fit around the trigger, it is tight, and a little hard to get the trigger group back in when cleaning the gun. I also swapped the original grip into the Mesa Stock. I liked the shape of it better, as the Mesa grip was boxed off at the rear. I think the majority of gun owners would love to own something like this AR-15 Stocks to have fun going full auto but also seem to be concerned the nature of this device could be deemed illegal, resulting in the minimum in loss of $300 up to being prosecuted and losing gun rights. We’ve seen a fellow member be prosecuted for having an unregistered machine gun just because his gun broke. Will this end up helping or hurting the gun community? And we should know somebody in the gov. has been monitoring these postings & videos so what good does deleting them do?
Maybe I’m just stirring the pot but when the mfg made a statement how easily this functions on a tripod, I think that possibly defeated the argument of forward motion… Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE F/A but also would rather spend the money than be at risk of being on the wrong side of the law. It would be really nice if once an ATF letter has been issued, it could not be reversed. If that was the case, I think there would be very little discussion, more excitement & purchasing.
Curious if these guys wanting to become industry sponsors has anything to do with the threads being deleted. It is hard to advertise when these pesky questions don’t go away. There have been no person attacks – just difference of opinions regarding this AR-15 Stocks. I haven’t been banned yet so we’ll see what happens.

I’ll use it until they ban it. IF they ban it.
Then i’ll take it down to the local PD and turn it in, just so I have a record of turning it in. That way nobody can come looking for it later on.
Its only a few hundo and and its fun, at least for a while.

i have a yugo m59/66 and it is a very good sks…as sks’s go, you need to try to get one unissued etc. The main problem with surplus 59/66 sks’s is the use of corrosive ammo in the gas system causing pitting and leakage. If you watch and get a unissued they run just fine.

Assuming you do that and don’t regularly shoot corrosive ammo through it without totally cleaning it out… you’ll be fine. Just re what can happen when you drop the bolt on any gun and have it pointed downrange or into the dirt. I’ve installed murray’s pins…Seems like a good idea but still won’t prevent it from happening if the the bolt gets filled with rust. Proper and regular maintenance is all that is required. It has been my experience that SKS`s that were recently packed in grease were the worst culprit for slam fires. Here is where a complete bolt disassembly can help along with a good soaking in gasoline or kerosene and a rubdown with good ol` Dawn dish soap. Then rinse thoroghly, wipe dry, and immediately apply some Break Free CLP or any other higher grade gun oil. I have at least a few thond rounds through several different SKS Rifle Stocks rifles and have never experienced a slam fire.
Just realize that the possibility exists and maintain proper muzzle discipline and it should never be a problem.
Keep and eye out for them on gun broker also.
